Improvisation

I love improvisation and it’s a large part of my musical life. Improvisation drives the creation of new extended techniques and facilitates creative collaborations with other instruments, including instruments that the classical repertoire does not typically pair with harp. It allows the harp to speak with fresh vocabulary and a bold voice. I enjoy the rich environment for musical experimentation and new extended techniques. I improvise in a variety of musical styles and in addition to playing with Mark Kirschenmann’s Creative Arts Orchestra, I was a founding member of OINC (Oberlin Improvisation and New Music Collective) directed by Per Bloland and Wodom (harp, bass, flute, violin, saxophone). I teach workshops on improvisation and I am a member of the International Society of Improvised Music.
